January 2003

Happy New Year! I hope you have all celebrated by seeing THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS many times. Iíve only managed to see it six times so far, but Iíve been very busy. My writing news for this month includes:

HISTORICAL ROMANCE

First off, I have a brand new historical romance novel out in January.

Captured Innocence front coverCaptured Innocence back cover

CAPTURED INNOCENCE is now on bookshelves (and of course available online at www.amazon.com, www.bn.com and www.buy.com).

CAPTURED INNOCENCE is the second book about the members of the MacLeod family of Victorian spies and adventurers. Set in 1880, the hero is Christopher MacLeod, the family thief, and the heroine is Lily Bancroft, the much-abducted exiled Princess of Bororavia. CAPTURED INNOCENCE received a 4 star review from Romantic Times magazine, and a Perfect Ten from Romance Reviews Today. But my favorite review is posted on www.theromancereader.com To quote from the Romance Reader review:

"So plunge in and enjoy yourself. Itís fun to watch the naive Lily gradually begin to understand the devious nature of power politics and to assert herself. Itís fun to watch Kit find himself caught by loveís snares. And if the way the plot resolves itself is over the top and improbable, well the whole story is unlikely. But Sizemore isnít aiming for verisimilitude; sheís aiming for entertainment. And she certainly succeeds."

This is a reviewer who understands what Iím about.

EPIC FANTASY

Once upon a time my dear friend Marguerite Krause and I wrote an epic fantasy story. This story of the Children of the Rock is told in two volumes, MOONSí DREAMING and MOONSí DANCING. These fantasy novels will soon be available in hardcover from Five Star Press. Iím so excited Ė MD1&2 are my and Margueriteís eldest babies, and it feels so good for them to have found a home in print. Excerpts and more information will be posted closer to the booksí publication dates.

BTW, Margueriteís really great fantasy novel, BLIND VISION, is available in tradesize paperback edition from Speculation Press. You can read an excerpt (and order a copy) at Speculation Press

VAMPIRES:
BOTH FANTASY AND ROMANCE

Starting in October of 2003 I have a new series of vampire novels coming from Pocket Books. These books are contemporary romance novels. It is now official Ė the title of the first book will be I BURN FOR YOU. Starting soon, Iíll be posting chapters of I BURN FOR YOU and information on the history and culture of this new vampire universe to whet your appetite for more!

Also look for the fifth book of the Laws of the Blood dark fantasy series: LAWS OF THE BLOOD: HEROES to be published in late fall 2003 or early in 2004.

IN OTHER NEWS...

The Romantic Times Award nominations have been announced Ė and LAWS OF THE BLOOD: DECEPTIONS has been nominated in the Best Vampire Romance category.

The nominees in this category are:

  • Best Vampire Romance
  • Midnight Embrace by Amanda Ashley
  • Realm of Shadows by Shannon Drake
  • Dark Guardian by Christine Feehan
  • Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon
  • Twilight Hunger by Maggie Shayne
  • Laws of the Blood Deceptions by Susan Sizemore

Iím proud to be in included such elite vampire writing company.

Iím also happy for my friends Connie Brockway, Christina Dodd and Lois Greiman, who are also Romantic Times nominees. All of them in the Historical Love and Laughter category. Of course, Iím hoping for a three-way tie, so that they all win the award.

Thatís it for January.

Susan
